Boundary Electric is looking for an experienced and resourceful Sourcing Coordinator to join our team!!

The Sourcing Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Director of Procurement in sourcing new suppliers, negotiating pricing, managing purchase orders, and ensuring a stable supply of materials across regions. This role emphasizes supplier development in China/Asia, Canada, and the USA, with a focus on cost reduction, logistics coordination, and continuous improvement of sourcing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

· Supplier & Vendor Management

o Manage the ordering process, supplier selection, and delivery of goods to meet operational needs.

o Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and agreements to secure best value.

o Liaise with technical teams on new product specifications.

o Conduct market surveys and maintain a database of pricing for quick reference and estimations.

o Perform vendor analysis and support the development of new vendors.

· Cost Control & Budgeting

o Develop and implement strategic and tactical initiatives to meet sourcing targets.

o Review and process claims against suppliers.

o Monitor procurement expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and manage departmental budgets effectively.

· Process Optimization

o Continuously assess and improve procurement processes, applying best practices and leveraging technology.

o Develop buy plan strategies for consistent material supply with optimal inventory performance.

o Generate and review NetSuite purchasing reports.

· Risk Management

o Identify and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure continuity of supply and compliance with policies and regulations.

· Cross-Functional Collaboration

o Work closely with Operations, Project Management, Sales, Finance, QC teams, and Product Development to align procurement with business needs.

o Coordinate with QA, R&D, and global purchasing directors to introduce new suppliers and develop new products.

o Support logistics coordination (China to U.S. shipments) with forwarders during the initial stage, with potential to directly manage international logistics as the company expands its direct-sourcing model.

· Sustainability & Compliance

o Ensure procurement practices align with ESG goals and comply with relevant laws and regulations.

o Adhere to company purchasing policies and procedures for materials, equipment, and services.

· Other

o Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Procurement.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field (MBA an asset).

· Professional purchasing certification preferred (e.g., NAPM, APICS).

· Fluency in Mandarin is required; proficiency in an additional Asian language is considered an asset.

· Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (citizen, PR, or valid work permit).

· 5–10 years of sourcing/purchasing/procurement experience, preferably with international supplier management.

· Knowledge of sourcing electrical equipment and components is strongly preferred.

· Demonstrated experience with global logistics and vendor negotiations; direct logistics management experience is an asset.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with NetSuite preferred.

· Strong understanding of procurement best practices, strategic sourcing levers, and Lean principles.

· Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to work in multi-cultural environments and manage cross-border logistics.

· Calm under pressure with proven crisis management and decision-making capabilities.

· Flexibility for minimal international travel, if needed.
