Boundary Electric proudly supplied the transformers for Modern Mining’s flagship facility in Medicine Hat, Alberta – Canada’s first dedicated immersion-cooled Bitcoin mining operation. This groundbreaking project represents a major leap forward in the country’s digital infrastructure, leveraging cutting-edge immersion cooling technology to significantly improve mining efficiency, thermal management, and equipment longevity.

Our scope included the delivery of multiple medium-voltage, oil-filled transformers specifically configured to support the facility’s high-density computing demands. The units were engineered for optimal performance in a continuous load environment, with robust insulation systems and thermal ratings tailored to the unique requirements of immersion-cooled systems.

Working closely with the client and site engineers, Boundary Electric ensured seamless integration with the mining facility’s power distribution network. Our transformers played a critical role in enabling stable, efficient power delivery to rows of immersion tanks filled with ASIC miners – where conventional air-cooling systems would fall short.
